Fashion Plate Fridays: Spring Pardessus

Holy sleeves, Batman! I'm having a sewing marathon this weekend to finish my black wool civil war dress in time for a dance next Saturday. And in honor of that, I thought I'd put up an 1860s plate. This is what I found. I wonder what she's trying to hide in those ginormous sleeves?

From Harpers (there are two plates accompanying this description, but I only posted one of them here):
We illustrate two styles of Spring Pardessus, which are among the most pleasing of the season. They are made of silk of two colors, and ornamented with passamenterie and lace.
