Gadsby's Tavern "Hair Ball"

I went to a 1780s ball at Gadsby's Tavern in Alexandria, VA last night. The tavern museum encouraged participants to wear their hair in large, extravagant 1780s styles. This led to some impressive wig designs! Plus, there were a number of lovely outfits, particularly francaise style gowns. The dancing was great fun, and I talked to several costumers who I had not met before. For dinner, Maggie, Amber, Mike, Doug, and I checked out Columbia Firehouse, which was quite yummy. Plus when walking from the restaurant to the tavern museum, we interrupted not one, but two ghost tours. The tour-goers seemed to enjoy seeing us in 1780s costume.

I wore my navy zone front gown again, with just a couple new accessories. I had earrings made by Dames a la Mode and a spangled ivory silk fan made by me.

I am looking forward to more dances at Gadsby's in the future.
